If you get a cold once in a while, then it is absolutely normal and no need to worry much!!

Some people get cold often and they sneeze, cough etc even if nobody is sick around them. These persons could become a nuisance for others also. They might also feel embarrassed. It is true that there are some issues related to the immune system in these persons. The weather change might cause cold or getting cold could be due to the lack of vitamins and minerals etc also. Truth is that if the body lacks certain vitamins and minerals etc, then the body would become an easy target for viruses and that too cold virus.

Important nutrient deficiencies that can cause frequent cold in us are

Lack of Vitamin C:

It is also known as ascorbic acid and it would support the immune system by increasing the production of white blood cells or WBCs in us.  It is a known fact that these white blood cells play an important role in defence against infections and diseases etc. These WBCs would fight the free radicals. It must be taken into note that when we lack vitamin C then we could get colds often, wounds would take a long time to heal etc. So, please take care

Lack of Vitamin D:

Many of us know that vitamin D plays a huge role in our bone health. Not many would know that vitamin D is also associated with immune system functions. By activating immune cells, vitamin D would fight off bacteria and viruses etc. It must be taken into account that when our body doesn`t have enough of this vitamin we could feel tired, have respiratory infections etc.

 Lack of vitamin B12:

Until our health becomes poor, we might not even notice the lack of vitamin B12 in us. This vitamin plays a role in healthy nerve cell function, red blood cell production etc. New immune cells would not be created by our body if we lack this vitamin. When we have vitamin B12 deficiency, then we could feel constant fatigue, weak immunity, frequent colds etc.

Lack of zinc:

Mineral zinc plays a huge role in our immunity and it could create and activate immune cells. Lack of this mineral would lead to weak immunity levels and this could result in frequent colds, infections, poor wound healing, hair thinning or loss, taste or smell los etc. Please take care.

Lack of iron:

It is true that iron deficiency can not only lead to anaemia but also to frequent colds and infnfections etc. Point is that when iron is low in us then the body would not make enough haemoglobin and tissues won`t get enough oxygen. The immune response would become slower due to low iron in us. This would make us more prone to colds and other infections etc. Persons who lack iron would get frequent colds plus fatigue, pale skin, brittle nails etc.

Note:

Important tips to avoid frequent colds and infections are - By drinking water frequently or hydrating, by maintaining good gut health, by exercising and by sleeping well etc.
