After 20 years, now MTC has started operating buses from Chennai airport to ECR, OMR etc!!
Hereafter, no more issues for the public regarding travelling from the airport Chennai to localities like OMR, ECR etc.
It is strange that for about 20 years there were no buses operated by MTC from Chennai airport to places like OMR, ECR etc. Now, MTC has resumed bus operations to these 2 places and Kilambakkam new bus terminus also. Sounds incredible right!!
For every 15 minutes, MTC bus services operate from Chennai airport to Kilambakkam and for every 30 minutes MTC operates buses from airport to places like ECR/OMR etc. It is a known fact that Chennai airport is one of the busiest international airports and everyday many people use this airport.
It must be taken into account that the passengers would have to walk more than one kilometre to get into the bus from the airport. Passengers travelling to suburbs from the airport would mostly opt to travel by bus as taxi fares were expensive. Point to be noted is that the public began requesting MTC to divert buses inside the airport via GST Road. On Friday, 25th April, MTC bus service resumed at the Chennai airport. Public would be able to board a MTC bus from the airport to Kilambakkam for every 15 minutes and from the airport to Akkarai via Radial Road OMR/ECR for every 30 minutes.
Yesterday, minister Anbarasan grabbed many eyeballs when he flagged off MTC buses at the Chennai airport. Information gathered is that bus services between Tambaram and Malayambakkam, Adambakkam and Kilambakkam were also inaugurated.
