Huge demand for Post cards for the past 2 months: TamilNadu

All over TamilNadu, for the past two months there pursuits a huge lack of Post cards in Post Office. Even though the usage of the post cards has reduced to lot after the advancements in telephones, it is over welcomed by some group people for various purposes that include: for the competition conducted by the magazines and news papers; television competition programs and so on. For this purpose the price of the card got increased to Rs.10. For common people usage the ordinary post card costs only 50 paise. And the costs remain the same for more than ten years. Around 32 lakh post card is issued per month.
The post card is getting printed out from the Hyderabad Security Printing Press. The stop in printing of post cards in this press is the main cause for this demand. On regarding this demand, the Postal department Head, Mr. Merlin Alexandar stated that, few post offices including the chief office in Chennai Rajaji Road, the availability of Post card is there. Various steps are in process to receive 1 lakh post cards within a few weeks, he added.
