Police security tightened on the occasion of New Year celebration

Elaborate security arrangements for New Year celebrations in the city have been made by Chennai Police. More than 18,000 policemen will be deployed on New Year’s eve and 50 special teams would be on bandobust duty.
Additional security would be posted at Marina Beach, in Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, ECR and OMR where many people gather to celebrate. Police also plan vehicle checks to check on drunk driving. Police have asked hotels to install CCTV cameras, obtain structural stability certificate in case they plan to put up a stage and serve liquor only at the bar.
