Education System Talking about Education System in India, it can go on and on; never ending .Most interesting because it concerns society. Its most awakening because without education perhaps future of society is a question mark. Education gives people the power of knowledge. Objective of any Education system is to make the society knowledge powered. Once the society is powered with knowledge and in corollary Wisdom it’s nearly utopian. It therefore imperative that the country//society has its Education System very structured as it stands as a pillar to build knowledge powered society. Knowledge gives the society/country necessary leverage to differentiate itself from other societies besides helping them. Our country, since independence, has been advancing in technologies and becoming more and more competitive globally In comparison with Rural India, the urban India has highly advanced .Even though the rural has also been advancing it needs thrust and more concerted support. Government is responsible for building and developing infrastructure in rural areas. We have to be proud and happy that the education molds each and every individual ,where we see ourselves in a much better position compared to our previous generations. Education has not only been attributed to greater respect to us in family or outer world, but also cultures us. We learn to improve our tolerance level through Education. Education unites all of us to live harmoniously apart from helping each other. What is in question is the structure of the present Educational system in India. India being a much matured democracy now that we have the opportunity to voice our views about the existing system and about the changes which we would want the government to make. The aim is to protect the interest of our future generations. We see small children carrying heavy loads of bag with full of text books which we are not sure, would it improve their knowledge; but one thing that is sure is that it is hazardous to their backbone. We understand that, as the country develops in technologies, they are ultimately burdened with more knowledge to gain and also to prepare themselves for a growing future. So education needs to focus more on how they can gain knowledge through modern tools. We can easily follow the system in other parts of the word where children has more freedom to express and to do what they want and pursue their passion. In the words of Abdul Kalam “70% of the one billion population of India live in six hundred thousand villages. To provide quality life style for the people living in the villages, we have evolved a rural development concept called PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas). This involves development of physical connectivity, electronic connectivity and knowledge connectivity to the rural clusters of 20 to 30 villages with a population of around 20,000 to 50,000 people leading to economic connectivity. The country will have around 7000 PURAs. Development of technologies and their convergence have significant influence on the society in terms of providing knowledge, health care, governance and economic development established through connectivity among them. This connectivity will certainly bring seamless access and information flow among the various domains leading to maximization of GDP and productivity; hence, there is a need for establishing the GRIDs namely Knowledge grid, healthcare grid, e-governance grid and the PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas) grid. This interconnecting grid will be known as societal grid. Knowledge sharing, knowledge utilization and knowledge re-use are very vital by all constituents of the society for promoting non-linear growth. “ I imagine in the next few years every farmer using the computer;
every student in the remote village carrying a light weight computer
rather than the customary load of books, every primary care
physician using his computer for each of his patient’s health
records. All these require standardization, interoperability where
organizations have key role to play. IT sector has brought a
revolution in youth in their professional growth and has fully
utilized the low average of organizations in the innovative process.
This trend has to be continued by continuous re engineering and
making organizations more and broader based with organizations
vibrating with a youthful spirit.” Author - R.Natarajan Iyer Journalist |
