Posted on: 26/Mar/2021 1:46:42 PM
As the intensity of the scorching summer season has already started increasing, the Government Hospitals Doctors have come with explanations for the citizens to protect themselves from the summer seasonal diseases!

The summer season commences in March and lasts through April & May. Scorching sun has already become a daily routine! Even as the intensity of the scorching summer gets more acute, the citizens will be affected by a variety of seasonal diseases.

The doctors from the Coimbatore Government hospital shared regarding the steps to be undertaken for the citizens to protect themselves from the above:

Diarrheas and smallpox are 2 summer season diseases that may affect the citizens. The extent of the scorching sun dehydrates the body water content!  This may lead to high blood pressure, sleeplessness, urinary tract complaints, jaundice, and other complaints!

TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THE ABOVE, EVERY CITIZEN MUST DRINK 2.5 TO 3 LITRES OF WATER EVERY DAY!

Do not dress the kids in thick clothes!

If the skin gets dry, it may lead to urinary complaints!

When there is excess perspiration, prickly heat will also, come up!

In order to prevent these, ensure to take bath twice in the day – in the mornings and evenings.

During the summer season, never drink water immediately after return to the house! Leave some time gap before taking water – it is ok to drink warm water!

Urinary incontinence affects citizens during the summer. The main reasons for this are excessive perspiration and insufficient water intake! When the water content in the body reduces, the quantum of urine also gets reduced! The salts which get passed through urine get solidified and get deposited in the urinary tract. These are the reasons for urinary incontinence. Note THAT TAKING SUFFICIENT WATER IS THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR THIS!

Take items that are rich in chill water content such as tender coconut, buttermilk, palmyra fruit (known as ‘nungu’ in Tamil).

Tender coconut is rich in Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, and other nutrients - by taking tender coconut, these nutrients absorb the body heat generated and balance to body temperature to suit the prevailing climate!

Apart from the above, one may take items such as watermelon, cucumber, guava, papaya, sweet lime, orange, grapes, musk-melon of rich water content or the juices of these fruits.

In case the 2-wheeler drivers undertake a long-distance riding, they may wear the sun-glasses.

All the above suggestions are clear0cut and established remedies to protect the citizen from the summer seasonal diseases!
