There are harmful side-effects while resorting to taking injections to get rid of the fever quickly.
So, it is advisable to avoid taking injections.
It is better to consult the doctors and take medicines and tablets as per their prescriptions.
This was informed by the Public Health Department Director (DPH), Mr. Kuzhandhaiswamy.
He also informed:
Some doctors & many sham doctors follow the practice of administering steroid, diclofenac and paracetamol injections in order to cure the fever quickly. Steroid injection will not cure but will only subside the fever on a temporary basis. At the same time, it tries to reduce the body resistance to sickness.
Diclofenac is not at all the right medicine for fever. It is only a pain-killer. By administering these injections, there are possibilities of urinary & kidney infections.
Hence, it is better to avoid taking diclofenac or steroid injections for fever. Even paracetamol, which is the right medicine for fever, can be taken in the form of liquid or tablets. This will also be painless and harmless with no harmful side-effects.
It is better to take the doctor’s prescription for medicine & tablets and taken them. If the fever fails to subside, have a sponge bath applied to the body parts with warm water. This will reduce the fever.
He also desired that the doctors engaged in the public service should realise their social responsibility and avoid administering needless and harmful injections.
