Artificial sweeteners have lot more than mere sweetening effect in foods, and they can in fact help cure aggressive cancer, say study reports. According to the study conducted at the University of Florida, saccharin deactivates carbonic anhydrase IX which is a protein found in very aggressive cancers. This stands as the reason behind spreading cancer in breast, liver, kidney, lungs, etc. Following this discovery, researchers have shown interest in developing drugs based on saccharin that hugely pulls down the growth of cancer.
