Posted on: 11/Apr/2015 5:25:20 PM
It is strongly advisable to take 3 to 4 litres of drinking water daily especially during the summer season.

Reduce the quantity of intake of tea, coffee, etc.

Avoid aerate cool drinks. Taking too much cool drinks contracts the blood vessels and increases the body heat level further!.

Instead, one can take tender coconut, buttermilk, sherbet, ‘panagam’ (jaggery water), and ‘padhaneer’ (extracted from palm trees).

Tender coconut contains Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, and Magnesium. These minerals tend to absorb the body heat and condition the body temperature according to the environment.

Thus, the problems created due to dehydration get prevented completely.

Lemon juice with salt or sugar is an excellent remedy at the lowest cost.

Idli, idiyappam, curd rice, buttermilk rice, millet gruel, agathi keerai, drumstick leaves, ponnanganni green leaves, Carrot, beetroot, peerkangai, lady’s finger, radish, bitter gourd, snake gourd, flat beans, cabbage, plantain stems, onion raita, and tomato-green gram/Bengal gram koottu are excellent summer food items to be included in the daily menu.

One can take cucumber salad, watermelon or tomato soup or vegetable soup in the evenings. Taking millet gruel mixed with curd brings instantaneous reduction in the body heat by absorbing it.
