Recent information is that a new rule for the doctors to write their prescriptions only in capital letters has been published in a government publication.
As emphasised by the Central government’s Ministry of Health, Indian Medical Council has been sending circulars to all medical teams in the country about this.
The circular states that all important details such as name of the medicine, quantity to be taken, the strength of the medicine, quantity of medicine to be bought, etc should be clearly & legibly written only in capital letters.
Doctors should only recommend the names as per the generic Medicine which will enable the poor to buy the medicine at lower prices as already insisted by the central government to the doctors.
