Things to do after a workout

After a workout, many of us feel like we`ve earned the right to rest how we want or eat what we want, right? Well, its wrong! Here are a few post workout tips that will help you get the most out of your effort. 

1. Stretch after your workout. Many hit the showers right after a workout. Remember that your muscles are open, warm and flexible after a workout. The stretching right after does maximum good for your muscles. This should be your immediate post workout mantra. 

2. Do not binge. Most experts recommend a meal with a combination of carbohydrates and proteins within 30 minutes of the end of your workout. Going on an eating spree, even if you feel you`ve deserved it, can annul any advantage gained from your workout. 

3. Experts say that most calories are burnt after a workout when you follow what they call non exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). Many of us hit the couch or take a nap after the workout. Instead, it is better to continue to be active. Easy movement helps your joints stay mobile.
