Those who are at the verge of becoming mom by delivering a little prince or princess need to check this out before opting for C-section. A new study claims that C-section may impact the ability of a child in focusing on a particular thing.

The research was conducted by York University. Scott Adler of the university states babies born out of C-section had slowed down spatial attention which is a key element in their concentration ability.

The study involved 34 infants. They were presented with two different types of object selection list. Their latency of eye movements were studied for about hundreds of milliseconds. This thirty minute session involved the infants on their back. They had a stimuli above them in a screen while their eye movements were tracked using infrared light.

With a considerably increase in total number of C-sections being performed, the research has identified several important findings, said Adler. The research also involved studying whether the C-section is opted due to birthing complications or personal choices, and whether the surgery would give rise to long term impact. It involved studying the differences in spatial attention in children. Results of the study were published in journal Attention, Perception, and Psychophysics.
