The ministry of agriculture has come up with a shocking report from a recent survey that whatever items are bought as organic food products may contain extremely toxic disinfectants in excess.
Recently, an analysis was carried out on various organic food products brought from several parts of the country. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India informs this analysis established that there were evidences that disinfectants had been used above the permitted level in this organic food.
The organic food items taken for analysis included fruits, vegetables, masala items, tea, and milk procured from several parts of India.
Out of the 20618 organic food items taken for analysis, 18.7% of the products contained arco-chlorine, arco-phosphorous, carbamates, and residues of herbicides. 2.6% of the products contained excess quantity of disinfectants exceeding the permissible level set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.
