Contrary to research that has been conducted regarding sitting for long periods of time, a new study says that there is no risk to health in this aspect. According to the researchers, health issues arise due to no movement, and not due to prolonged sitting.
5000 respondents were studied over a period of 16 years. Their physical activity, which included periods of sitting at work, during leisure time and watching tv were recorded. The study also took into consideration the participants` gender, age and ethnicity. After 16 years, the scientists concluded that sitting as such did not affect health in any negative way.
