According to reviews posted in the Annals of Internal Medicine, people in their 50s who have risj of cardiovascular disease can benefit from consuming one aspirin daily. The recommendation has come from a government appointed panel of independent experts, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).
The USPSTF recommends that the low dose use of apirin may prevent CVD and colorectal cancer in adults between the ages of 50 and 59 years. The recommendation is specifically for those who have a 10 percent or greater 10 year CVD risk, those who are not at increased risk for bleeding, those who have a life expectancy of at least 10 years and those who are willing to take low dose aspirin daily for at least 10 years.
