According to a recent study, children spending about fifteen minutes or more of their time to watch cartoon or other TV channels are prone to lose their creativity compared to children who get engaged in reading books or jigsaw puzzles.

Immediately after watching TV, children had lesser clarity in their thoughts and original ideas, said Sarah Rose, Lecturer at Staffordshire University in Britain. However these effects lasted only for a short period.

At the same time, children who are less creative in playing will have lesser impact in their development over a period of time. Sarah said that it is widely believed that slow paced programs are helpful in being educational, but other findings do not state so.

The study was about the creativity in three year old immediately after watching TV. It involved studying children who saw postman pat and other who read books and solved jigsaw puzzles.
