A recent study in which over 479 parents and their children were analyzed have discovered the following results.

About three out of five parents fail to show good oral care for their children. They either do not take their child to dentist whenever needed or they do not care for regular brushing, say studies.

The results of the study were published in the Indian society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. The study involved analyzing dental hygiene in children of the age between 3 and 12.

A cross sectional study was made where 479 parents and their children were studies. The study involved inspecting the oral hygiene in children and parents were made to answer a questionnaire. Nearly one in ten parents is aware that their child does not brush properly. About half of them do not take any care to take their child for annual dental checks.

Over 34 percent parents agree that they postpone dentist appointments while 30 percent parents said the delay is because of the child. Many parents are in the belief that it is enough if they just buy tooth brush and paste for dental care. Children are hardly taught with the right brushing techniques and frequency and many parents do not make regular visits to dentists.
