The state government of Tamil Nadu has increased the minimum base price of rice.
In an announcement released by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy, it is stated that giving due consideration to the welfare of the farmers, the minimum base purchase price of the rice grain bought from the farmers has been increased as under:
- Incentive payment for fine rice grains at Rs. 70 per quintal
- Incentive price for the common type of rice grain – Rs. 50 per quintal
- The minimum base price for fine rice grain – Rs. 1660 per quintal
- The base minimum price of the common type of rice grain – Rs. 1600 per quintal
1564 direct purchase centres have been set up the state government of Tamil Nadu to buy rice from the farmers and a total of 20 Lakhs Metric Tons of rice will be bought.
The above direct purchase centres of rice will be set up in all the state districts except and Chennai and Nilgiri
The district collectors have been informed accordingly.
