Please avoid keeping these foods in the refrigerator

Most of us have the habit of stuffing our refrigerator with half the things we purchase from the grocery stores. This must be avoided because there are few foods that must be kept in the fridge while others must be kept in the kitchen only. Point is though cold storage of foods is a necessity for many foods chilly air of the fridge could have negative impact on some health favorites. . It is important to mention that putting all the food items in the fridge even when it isn’t needed would remove all the natural flavors of the food.

These below mentioned foods must not be kept in a refrigerator.

Basil:

The basil leaves become black very fast so they must be treated like a flower. It is important to keep basil leaves on the counter instead of keeping them in fridge. For the basil leaves to remain fresh for longer time, it is necessary to store the stem of the basil leaves in a glass of water.

Bananas:

Sweet to taste, bananas must be kept in the open and not stored in the refrigerator. When kept in cold temperatures the bananas won’t ripen nicely.

Potatoes:

Who doesn’t like eating potatoes? It is important to keep the potatoes in paper or net bags in pantry. The starch would be converted to sugars by the dampness of the fridge and on cooking potatoes would be sugary to taste. So please avoid keeping potatoes in the fridge.

Apples:

The apples must not be stored inside the fridge because it would lose its flavour. By this, we would not feel like eating the apples.

Tomatoes:

It is high time that we must stop storing tomatoes inside the fridge if we have been storing them like that. We want tomatoes to be crisp non-mealy and full of flavours. By keeping the tomatoes inside refrigerator tomatoes become mushy plus some flavours would be removed.

Whole melons:

These whole melons have rich amounts of antioxidants in them is known. Keeping some uncut whole melons inside fridge would mean letting the antioxidant number getting reduced to half.

Garlic:

It is advised to store garlic in cool, dry and ventilated containers rather than storing them inside refrigerator. By this, powerful flavour of garlic could be preserved well.

Honey:

Never keep honey in refrigerator because honey could crystallize and seize up in the cold temperatures. To keep honey perfectly gooey, it is said that normal room temperatures would be enough.
