The statistics have confirmed that strokes have been one of the major causes of deaths in India. Shocking piece of information is that for every 40 seconds someone suffers from a stroke and for every 4 minutes someone dies of a stroke. Just a couple of days back World Strokes Day was observed to create awareness about stroke issues.
Reasons for getting strokes:
It is revealed that when the supply to the brain gets stopped or restricted then we could get strokes. Truth is that this would result in permanent damage to the brain causing death. The clots formed in the brain could restrict or prevent the flow of blood to the brain and this could lead to strokes.
It must be noted that parts of the brain where blood flow is stopped starts to die and by this the various organs that are under the control of the brain area also get affected.
Another important reason for getting strokes is due to high blood pressure or BP. In this case, the veins or small blood capillaries would not be able to withstand the pressure of blood and this could end up in the formation of blood clots or haemorrhage in the brain.
Be careful about these early signs/symptoms of strokes.
Speech issues:
The person would have difficulties in speaking or she might speak in jumbled words. This is one important early sign of strokes. If the person shows this symptom plus other symptoms then he or she would have 80 percent chance of getting strokes.
Vision changes:
It is believed that strokes would lead to double or blurred vision. There are chances that a person would lose his or her vision completely also.
Severe headache:
Early signs or strokes would also be shown when he or she gets severe headaches along with weakness in one part of their body. It is a must to consult a doctor immediately.
Bleeding of nose:
This would happen due to high BP and a small vessel in the brain has ruptured. So, please be careful when there are above said symptoms plus nose bleeding.
Loss of balance:
There are chances that we might get affected by strokes when we have vertigo, nausea and vomiting and find it tough to balance the body while sitting or walking.
Weakness in arms or legs:
Sign of stroke is also brought out when a person feels weakness and finds it difficult to move one arm and one leg on one side of the body.
Breathing trouble:
There would be some difficulty in breathing if a person has strokes. This is due to the fact that the breathing centre is located in the brain. The heartbeat rate would be more in such persons. So, please take care.
