The presence of excess of minerals and salts inside the kidneys could lead to the formation of kidney stones in us. It must be noted that if the kidney stones get lodged in the ureter then it would lead to swelling of the kidneys resulting in severe pain and discomfort. The uric acid based and calcium based are 2 most common types of kidney stones in us. Point is cystine stones and struvite are other forms of kidney stones. It is worthy to note that kidney stone disease occurs when a small piece of material or stone happens in the urinary tract of a person.

Various symptoms of kidney stone issue are high temperature, feeling sweaty, feeling sick or vomiting, blood in urine, severe pain etc.

These below mentioned reasons would lead to the formation of kidney stones in us.

Lack of intake of fluids:

This is one major reason for the formation of kidney stones in a person. By less water intake, the concentration of urine becomes high and this would lead to crystallisation and concentration of calcium.

Presence of oxalate in diet:

It is brought out that excess intake of foods rich in oxalates like broccoli, nuts, spinach etc could lead to the formation of calcium oxalate stones in the urine.

Family history:

If the family member or a relative has the issue of developing kidney stones then he or she would have a high risk of getting kidney stones issue.

Calcium supplements consumption:

It is true that for healthy development of bones a regular and balanced intake of calcium is good. Point to be noted here is that intake of calcium supplements would make a person more prone to get kidney stones.

Diabetes and obesity:

Medical conditions like obesity or type-2 diabetes etc would change the composition of urine. This could lead to formation of kidney stones in a person.

High intake of sodium:

It is believed that consuming foods that are rich in salt content (high sodium content) would result in the formation of kidney stones. The calcium concentration in the urine would become more due to high sodium content.

Animal protein consumption:

Kidney stones in us could alalso be due to the intake of red meat that would produce acid in the kidneys. This would increase the levels of calcium in the kidneys leading to kidney stones. In addition to this, acidic urine also leads to acidic urine leading to uric acid based kidney stones.

Foods to eat and not to eat:

It is advised to avoid high purine foods like red meat, organ meat etc and eat healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat dairy products etc. Sugar-sweetened foods and drinks (mostly that have high fructose corn syrup) must be limited.
