The food item of the dairy product ghee p[lays an integral part of the daily life-routine/intake of the diets of the Indians!
However, the usage of butter is more as an ingredient in most other foreign countries! They do not have the system of refining the butter by melting it and using the resultant product known as gee!
However, this ghee is an integral part of the Indian daily diet/intake. There is also an observation that taki8ng excess ghee is harmful to health! However, there are definite health benefits with regular/daily intake of ghee in restricted quantities!

- Ghee is generally known as ‘refined butter’! Ghee is obtained by melting butter when the water content and other milk ingredients in the butter get evaporated and ghee is formed as a dense fat form.
- The climate conditions of the western countries permit butter to be kept for longer periods and used without any deformation. However, India climate, being tropical, and butter cannot be kept for long periods in this climate. - Though made from butter, the ration of ingredients differ from butter to ghee: 1 tablespoon of butter (approximately 14 grams) contains 100 calories; the same quantity of ghee contains 112 calories.
- 1 tablespoon Ghee contains 13 grams of fat whereas butter contains 11 grams of fat. Both contain vitamins A, Vitamin K, and Vitamin E to a certain level!
- Both ghee and butter are rich in saturated fat. As such, they may increase the quantum of harmful fat known as LDL. (LDL stands for low-density lipoproteins. It is sometimes called the "bad" cholesterol because a high LDL level leads to a buildup of cholesterol in your arteries. HDL stands for high-density lipoproteins).
- So, the experts recommend that NOT MORE THAN 1 OR 2 TABLESPOONS OF GHEE SHOULD BE TAKEN DAILY!
