Are you aware of these important signs in the mouth that would reveal diabetes?

One of the most commonly found health issues across the globe is diabetes. Also called diabetes mellitus, diabetes is a group of metabolic disorders with high blood sugar levels over a prolonged period of time. Diabetes must be treated without fail and if not treated it could lead to further health complications in us. The persons with diabetes condition would show symptoms like frequent urination, increased thirst, blurry vision, increased appetite, unexplained weight loss etc. It is worthy to note that there are 2 types of diabetes namely type-1 and type-2.

Apart from the regular symptoms, a person with diabetes or high blood sugar levels would also show few signs in their mouths. These signs are

Dry mouth:
Blood sugar increase could affect the production of saliva inside the mouth. Truth is that the saliva production could become very low and the person would have dryness in the mouth. After some time, this could further result in sores, ulcers etc in the person. Please take care.

Cuts and wounds heal slowly:
The diabetes condition would affect our immune system and would make it slow. When a person has got high blood sugar levels then the healing process would be slow. The cuts and infections in the person would take a long time to heal.

Oral thrush:
It must be taken into note that persons who have antifungal medication for diabetes could develop infection in their mouth or tongue. It is believed that the virus would thrive on the high blood sugar in the saliva of those with uncontrolled diabetes.

Burning mouth or tongue:
High blood sugar levels could cause burning tongue syndrome and the presence of thrush and dry mouth could be responsible for this. The tongues of the patients might go numb and finally he or she might even lose the ability to taste.
