For many people, this cold winter weather could bring happiness and excitement but for others this cold weather could bring stiffness, pain plus worsening of joint pain issues etc. Not many know the real reason behind the worsening of joint pain in the winter season.
It is believed that the blood might be routed away from the limbs during the winter season for the purpose of maintaining the core body temperatures. This might lead to severe joint pain in the cold season. During the winter season, the muscles might get tighter causing stiffness. With the decrease in the temperatures in the winters, the atmospheric pressure also decreases and this would make the joints muscles tendons etc to swell causing pain.
Many get more joint stiffness in the winter especially because of the fact that the synovial fluid that lubricates the joints in the body would become viscous or thicker resulting in joint stiffness. Vitamin D deficiency due to lack of exposure to sunlight and less physical activity might also lead to pain and stiffness in the joints.
Various ways to get relief from the joint pain during winter season are
