We all would have heard time and time again that the presence of cholesterol could lead to many issues like heart attack, stroke or coronary heart diseases etc in us. Not many would know that the cholesterol in us could also play a huge role in creating cell membranes, hormones and vitamin D etc.
There are 2 types of cholesterol like HDL or high density lipoprotein and LDL or low density lipoprotein. Normally, HDL must be higher than LDL. It must be noted that this higher HDL could be obtained either by the liver or through fats consumed by a person. It is true that based on the intake of fats (quantity and types) the cholesterol levels would fluctuate. Low levels of cholesterol could be dangerous just like the high levels of cholesterol.
Various symptoms of low cholesterol levels in a person are
Anxiety:
It is believed that when a person has anxiety then he or she would have lower levels of cholesterol. Truth is that when the blood lipids are low, both the genders would show signs of low cholesterol levels, Foods like nuts, seeds and fatty fishes etc would be tremendous.
Depression:
Brain would get damaged if the cholesterol levels become low and this could lead to depression etc. It must be noted that depressive disorder that might arise due to low cholesterol levels could lead to high death risk and suicides etc.
Cancer:
There exists an important link between low levels of cholesterol and cancer risk although it is rare. The important piece of information is that low blood lipids could be due to an unidentified cancer. Hence, it is advised to maintain good cholesterol levels to reduce the cancer risk.
Hemorrhagic stroke:
A person could get a high risk of hemorrhagic stroke if the person is unable to get sufficient levels of cholesterol. There still exists confusion between having high fat or cholesterol levels (as it could lead to clogging of arteries and then to heart attacks strokes etc) and having low levels of fats or cholesterol etc that could lead to serious issues.
Preterm birth:
It has been confirmed by a research study in 2015 about the relation between low cholesterol levels and high risk of premature births. During the pregnancy, the presence of too much cholesterol as well as too little cholesterol could lead to issues. By consuming desi ghee, nuts etc blood lipids could be maintained.
