Now-a-days.the hair turns for many people at a young age. The main reason for graying is the lack of the coloring agent known as ‘melanin’. Generally the production of melanin reduces with increasing age. However, the production of melanin is less in the group of young age.

It is worthwhile to know the reasons for graying and then take remedial action.

Genes - Heredity is one of the important reasons for early grey hair. IF the father or mother has grayed early, it is very likely that the children will also grey early.

Vitamin B12 - If there is shortage of vitamin B12, the production of melanin also reduces. It is better to ensure taking the right quantity of vitamin B12.

Thyroid - Thyroid can be a reason for early grey hair. Many young people suffer from thyroid.  Wrong food habits and lifestyle are the main reasons for this. If one takes care of right food habits and good lifestyle, thyroid as well as early grey hair will be avoided.

Pituitary gland - Pituitary gland plays the major role in hair growth and development. If it fails to function properly, graying of hair will start.

Iodine shortage - Iodine is an important element for our body. Shortage of iodine may lead to early grey hair.

Anaemia - Anaemia can cause body weakness reducing the nutrients required for healthy hair. This may result in early grey hair.

Tension - The scalp gets affected with too much tension with hair follicles not getting the required nutrients. This leads to early grey hair.
