Till yesterday, around 375 persons have been affected with swine-flu fever in Tamil Nadu.
12 persons have died.
The Public Health Department and Chennai Corporation are earnestly carrying out all the prevention activities.
The patients with symptoms of swine-flu are tested. If it is positive, immediate treatment is administered for swine-flu.
There are 7 government–owned laboratories and 13 private-owned laboratories in Tamil Nadu.
Government laboratories do not charge for testing for swine-flu.
However, the private laboratories charge. The charges seem to vary from one lab to another.
The government has now released an order that the charges for testing for swine-flu in private labs must be uniform and should be Rs. 3750/-.
Health officials informed that legal actions will be taken on any lab which charges higher. Meanwhile, even the patient with swine-flu in private hospital can also get free treatment in the government’s King’s Institute. There will be no charges.
