According to a new study, it is found that Vitamin-D is said to play a very vital role in preventing and treating diseases that are caused due to aging. The study was done by Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. The study results explain that the deficiency of vitamin D is closely associated with diseases of aging like cognitive decline, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, high levels of blood pressure, depression, type 2 diabetes and cancer all of which are linked to each other.
One of the authors of the study say deficiency of vitamin D is very common, and a serious medical condition which will eventually affect ones health and well being of adults. It is important to monitor the level of vitamin D intake in us. On an average, about 600 IU of vitamin D is consumed by adults up to 70 years of age, and 800 IU by those above 70 years of age. Chronic diseases of aging need to be prevented wit the appropriate use of vitamin D supplements.
