What is the maximum time up to which one can use their spectacle and at what frequency should one get their eye check up done? Here is a brief from an eye specialist in the city.

The size of our eye is of a circumference of 22.5 mm. When there arises a change in this circumference, we call it an eye defect or power in eye sight. Up to 18 years of age, eye remains in the phase of growth and hence, the power of eye sight keeps elevating. Hence, these teenagers are advised to get their eye check-up done once in a year, and make necessary change in the power of their spectacle.

In case of adults above the age 18 up to 40 years, not much difference in power is seen. Hence, it’s enough if the check-up is done at a frequency of once in two or three years. However, when there is a difficulty in looking at light or you find distraction in eye sight, immediate eye testing is required. And obviously, when there is any damage or scratch on the specs, it needs immediate changing.

Coming on to those who are above the age of 40, pressure in eye, Presbyopia, cataract, etc are some of the possible troubles. Hence, for such individuals above 40 years of age, eye check up for once in a year is advisable.
