According to psychiatrists, children who overuse smartphones are at the borderline of being ‘autistic’. Comparing children of previous generations with that of the current one with children falling below 5 years of age, these new age children are increasingly unable to read facial expressions or feel or show empathy.
Talking to some of the teachers, experts found that one third of the children were unable to understand others’ emotions or facial expressions which is certainly a result of increasing use of technology in lives of children.
As there is changing family roles, children are left to watch TV or use tablets for long hours during which parents carry out their works. This is worrisome!
Autism may have several characteristics, but what differentiates a child from the others is the social development. While most people get intuitions, most children do not get so naturally, and they often end up finding it too tough to recognize or understand facial expressions or the emotions of others.
