In a new study, it is found that sleeping with light or while watching TV or using mobile phone will eventually increase the body weight.
The study was conducted by researchers of Leiden University, Netherlands. In this study, it is found that artificial light that is turned on at the time of sleep disrupts the body clocks. This also affects the brown fat cells that is responsible of burning calories. Hence researchers say it is important to turn off all lights, TV and smartphones during bedtime. They also added that the approximate hours of online presence of an individual is 20 hours a week. The same is however extended to 27 hours in case of youngsters of age 16 to 24.
One of the researchers, Sander Kooijman says the increasing number of obese individuals is associated with the pattern of sleep-wake in humans. This also coincides with the presence of artificial light, he adds. The survey was published in National Academy of Sciences journal Proceedings.
