Performing exercise during pregnancy can deliver awesome benefits both to you and your baby. The possibility of gestational diabetes is very less in those pregnant women who engage themselves in moderate physical activities during the course of their pregnancy. This can also help in reducing the maternal weight gain.
According to the lead author of the study, Germa Sanabria – Martinez from Virgen de la Luz Hospital in Spain, there is nothing to worry or feel scared at exercising during pregnancy. Exercising in moderate levels can fetch positive results he adds.
One of the important complications in pregnancy is gestational diabetes. This is largely related to disorders like hypertension, preterm birth, etc. Long term impaired glucose tolerance and type-2 diabetes are the two severe cases of gestational pregnancy.
Furthermore, those with gestational diabetes will tend to gain more weight and will have high risk of developing diabetes for themselves.
Similarly, weight gain during pregnancy will also be associated with risk factors. They will be less likely to get their weight reduced post delivery.
In a study that involved 13 trials, those with gestational diabetes had 30 per cent lesser risk when they exercised during pregnancy.
