Researchers from Technion-Israel Institute of Technolog say combination of pomegranate and dates (with seeds) help prevent and fight against atherosclerosis which is a condition of build up or hardening of arteries. Atherosclerosis is the primitive reason for heart attack or stroke. The study results are stated in Food and Function journal.
Pomegranate juice is found to be rich in polyphenolic antioxidants which is a compound obtained from plants. This hugely reduces oxidative stress. And dates is rich in phenolic radical scavenger antioxidants which prevents oxidation of bad cholesterol or LDL. Dates further induce the removal of cholesterol from lipid-laden arterial cells.
The combination of these two helps in keeping you fit.
