Experts say that chocolate milk is not recommended after low intensity workout

Chocolate milk is the preferred post workout drink for many. The drink is high in carbohydrates and sugar which is essential for after a high intensity workouts. 

However, what if your workout is low intensity? 

Lets look at the two types of workouts first. Exercises such as running stairs, boxing or soccer increase heart rate by 80 - 85 per cent. These will be classified under high intensity workouts. On the other hand, a low intensity workout will consist of exercises such as pilates, walking or hiking. In these exercises, heart rate goes up by 60 - 65 per cent. 

Experts recommend that one have 4 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of proteins within 30 minutes after a high intensity workout. This makes chocolate milk one of the right choices.  

For those who perform low intensity exercises, experts recommend blueberries, orange juice or coconut water.
