The online journal Neurology has published a study that says that slow thinkers may be more susceptible to heart diseases. The study was conducted by researchers at the Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands.
The experiment was conducted by studying almost 4000 people. The average age of the group was 75 years, and findings were noted over a period of three years. High level thinking skills were tests and graded. The results showed that those who received a lower test score were 85 per cent more likely than those who scored higher. Also, the low scorers were 51 per cent more likely to have a stroke.
Say researchers, The results pointed out that the heart and brain were more closely related than what is generally believed... The results emphasise that assessment of cognitive function should be part of the evaluation of future cardiovascular risk.
