A website has revealed the effects of beer on the body from the time it is consumed. The step by step, minute by minute guide has a shocking insight into the body`s reaction to any alcohol, especially beer.

According to the research, the beer consumed travels to the stomach and the alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream in the first few minutes. Thereon, it will travel to other parts of the body, including the brain. In the first 10 minutes, the body recognises the alcohol as a poison and reacts by trying to get rid of it as soon as possible.

In 15 minutes, the stomach starts to breakdown and remove the alcohol. It produces an enzyme called alcohol hydrogenase which converts the alcohol into chemicals. One of the chemicals, Acetaldehyde, is very toxic and is a big contributor to the hangover the next day. It is then converted into acetic acid and finally into fatty acids and water - which is suitable for the body. The final conversion sobers the individual up. However, if there is an excessive intake, the liver goes into a backlog which makes the individual drunk.

It is after 20 minutes of drinking the first sip of alcohol that it starts affecting you. You will have a light head and excessive emotions. Your blood alcohol level will be at its peak between 45 and 90 minutes. After about 60 minutes, you will tend to go to the toilet often. This causes dehydration. If you stop drinking now, it is most likely that you will feel sleep. Drunk sleep is of poor quality since your body is dehydrated.

Between 12 and 24 hours, your body is still trying to deal with the excess alcohol in your body, if any. If you have indulged, you will likely wake up with headaches, dizziness, thirst, paleness and tremors - all of which are caused by dehydration.
