According to a study conducted by researchers at Ohio State University, shouting and fighting with your partner can cause weight gain. The scientists found that getting worked up triggers the appetite causing hormone. This makes one crave junk food. The study found that this effect is on people who have healthy weight, and not already overweight people.

Couples were made to eat a meal together. While eating, they were asked to resolve a few conflicts they had. After the meal, they completed a questionnaire. Samples of their saliva and blood were also taken from which levels of stress related hormones and the number of immune cells were tested. Results showed that there was a relation between marital stress and unhealthy food choices. They also found that those couples that had problems carved food that were high on fat, sugar and salt content.
