Want a healthy heart? Then say `cheers`! Yes, that`s true! As per recent researches and studies, it is fond that there are antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in red wine that can help in the upkeep of the health of heart and bring down the risk of heart diseases.

As per the study result published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Disease Research, powerful antioxidants such as  resveratrol, polyphenols, and quercetin that help bring down the likeliness of incidence of cardiovascular diseases are found in red wine.

By consuming a moderate level of wine of the range 15 – 31 g/day, the level of HDL cholesterol in blood levels can be increased, platelet aggregation can be decreased and antioxidant activity can be bettered.

Resveratrol helps bring down triglycerides level in the body and accumulation of cholesterol in blood vessels which can help improve the heart-protective action as exerted by the compound.

Quercetin helps in proper maintenance of blood pressure levels with its vasodilator action on heart muscles. This also prevents thrombocyte aggregation thus bringing down the risk of heart disease.

According to the study that was published in the European Heart Journal, men who consume about 7 drinks per week had lower risk of heart failure by 20 percent. The reduction in risk was 16 percent in case of women who consume the same quantity of wine.

This however doesn`t mean that you need to drink one bottle after the other just for the sake of keeping your heart healthy. Too much of anything is certainly not good!
