A study published in the Lancet journal says that losing extra weight can shield against cancer. Researchers have claimed that many cancers have links to obesity.

5 million people`s data was analysed to study the links between cancer and obesity. The results showed that a person`s Body Mass Index (BMI) shows the likelihood of developing cancer in the body. Every increase of five points increased the risk of getting uterus cancer by 62% and kidney cancer by 25%. The scientists attributed this to the effect of fat on the hormones in the body. Since it affects the hormones, other probable cancers include endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer and breast cancer.
