Generally, we wash our faces at least twice a day with a lot of soft lather from our bath soap. We simply observe that the soap gives a good smell & a lot of lather.
However, most of us do not care to know what are the basic ingredients in the soap and also whether the soap that we use is the right for our type of skin.
Here are a few useful tips about soaps:
- Soaps with neem & lemon are good for oily skins.
- Soaps with cocoa butter, vegetable oil, aloe vera, jojoba oil, vitamin E (Natural oil), and avocado are good for dry skins.
- TFM indicates soap quality.
- 1st quality soap contains more than 75 percent TFM.
- Medium quality soap contains 65 percent to 75 percent TFM.
- Some of us have the habit of all soaps which are introduced in the market now & then. This is not a good habit. Better avoid it.
- If the TFM content is below 65 percent, it is considered as low quality soap. Hence, better check the TFM content while buying the soap.
- Some elders tend to prefer using baby soaps (meant exclusively for infants & young children)! This is not ok. It may lead to a condition where the impurities & dirt in the body might not be removed.
- New-born infants do not have pores on their skins. Hence, the soaps which are exclusively made for the infants are necessarily made milder.
- However, in the case of elders with pores on the skin, oil comes out from the skinand dirt gathers. These cannot be removed by baby soaps. So, do not use baby soaps for persons above 3 years of age.
- Please note that the principal function of the sap is to remove dirt and purify the skin. It is not meant for beautifying or increasing fair complexion. So, please avoid getting carried with soap advertisements with film stars.
- Use soap only once in a day to wash your face. At other times it is ok to wash the face with plain water.
- Note that frequent washing with soap renders the facial skin dry.
- Liquid soap has more moisture content. The chemicals used in this are milder.
- Persons who are allergic to the normal soaps in the market & those who have skin problems must consult the doctor to select the most suitable soap for their condition. Chemicals with sweet smell are added just in order to reduce the smell from the fat content in the soap. So, do not fall into the trap of busying soaps for their good smell alone.
- Some persons use herbal soaps because of pimples. However, they have to note the list of herbs contained in the soap. (this details will be available on the soap cover).
- Soaps which contain lavender, citrus, lemon grass, and rose are the best suitable for persons with sweat smell problems.
