Handwash in cold water better than hot water to remove germs

A group of scientists from America, headed by Rutgers-New Brunswick University Professors Donald Schaffner, have found that it is better to wash hands with cold water rather than hot water to remove bacteria.

It is a routine to wash hands before each meal session. However, some of us wash hands with hot water as they believe hot water will remove the germs/bacteria.

However, this is a wrong notion. Bacteria get removed while washing with cold water. This has been established by the Rutgers University group of scientists.

It is enough to wash the hands in cold water for 10 seconds to remove the bacteria. Heat is not required for this. In fact, they observe that cold water is more powerful in this regard.
