Skin complaints during the summer season & related remedies

It is usual during the summer season for the people to be affected during the summer seasons such as prickly heat, small polyps, itching, developing patches on the skin (known as themal in Tamil), chicken pox, manal vari ammai, allergy and stomach-related problems

As the sweat or perspiration harms the skin, the skin may tend to become dry and itchy.

Tips
  • All age groups from children to senior citizens must drink plenty of water.
  • All must take bath twice a day.
  • Do not wear dresses without removing the dampness coming out of the bath.
  • Dry completely and properly with a towel and then only start wearing the dresses.
  • Better wear cotton dresses not too thick and with mild colours and also ensure that they are loose enough to permit ventilation inside the body. Do not wear jeans or leggings.
  • Do not take children – from the infants to younger ones outside the house from 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM.
  • The pregnant ladies also must avoid going out in this period.
  • Take water-rich vegetables such as watermelons and cucumbers.
  • If affected by measles/chickenpox/smallpox, better get treated in a hospital than in the residence.
