Parents, especially mothers are often seen to practice wrong feeding habits to their children! They are irked with their child’s fussy eating and force them to eat! But there is a lot more that you ought to think beyond this – yes, the chemicals that are hidden in the packaged foods you allow your children to eat. They are harmful, period.

There are a lot of chemicals used in processed meats and other kinds of packaged foods. They lead to puberty issues, obesity and many other health ailments, says American Academy of Pediatrics or AAP. There are a lot of additives in the food too! Listed below are some of the most important chemicals to watch out for:

Nitrates and Nitrites – these are preservatives added in foods. Mostly, processed meats contain them in large proportions. They directly affect the production of thyroid stimulating hormone.

Bisphenols – these are mostly used to line the metal cans. Bisphenols such as BPA are more like estrogen produced in our body. This may hit the puberty, surge fat content in our body and bring down fertility, and have great influence on the body’s immunity and nervous system.

Perfluoroalkyl chemicals or PFCs – these are helpful in ensure grease-free packing of foods. It largely brings down the body’s immunity, fertility and reduces birth weight.

Percholate – this is often used for packing dry foods. It helps in controlling static electricity. This is famous for causing disruption in thyroid functioning and hits brain development in the formative years

Phthalates – these are seen in plastics. They directly affect the genitals in men, eventually lead to heart ailments and cause obesity.

Of course, these chemicals are harmful to adults, elders and everyone, and kids are even more prone to get hit.
