Health of the elder persons in the family could be boosted by having pets

Who said having pets is a nuisance? If you are of the view that having pets could create issues for your family members and it would be a nuisance then it is high time you change your mind. The truth is having pet is highly beneficial as it could boost both the mental and physical health of the elder persons in the family.

It is now revealed by a study that more than three quarters of pet owners were happy that having pet in their houses reduced their stress to a huge extent. It is worth mentioning that two thirds of pet owners and 78 percent of dog owners spoke about how the pets have helped them to be active even at their age. Not only that by having pet one could have superb connection with other people too and this was confirmed later by 65 % of pet owners.

It is well known that majority of the elder persons have both physical as well as mental stress. It is now pointed out by 70% of elderly persons that their pets have helped them to cope up with these 2 mentioned issues in them. A researcher, Mary Janevic, belonging to the popular University of Michigan in USA spoke about how relationships with the pets were less complicated than the relationships with other human beings. She added that pets were the source of enjoyment. 

By providing the older people with the sense of being needed and loved, pets are remarkable and highly beneficial. The amazing information is for this research study the team included as many as 2051 people and their ages were between 50 and 80.

The researchers were of the opinion that time commitment and cost were two factors that came in the way of having pets in the homes. There were few complaints from people having pets that they were unable to enjoy activities outside homes and have difficulty in travelling etc. Another information that was revealed was having pets also resulted in budget issues of the people. The sensational information is one in 6 participants spoke about how they had put pet’s needs ahead of their own needs.
