t is known that anything in excess is not good!!
Excess consumption of sodium is not advised as it could lead to weight gain in us. Many of us do not know about this. While we do many things to reduce our excess weight we forget about excess sodium intake.
It is said that salt intake leads to water retention in the body. This would make us weigh more than actual. This is termed as water weight and once we cut down on the salt intake we could lose this water weight. The foods which we eat frequently like chips, processed foods etc are full of salt or sodium than other foods like poha oats etc.
Everyone must watch their salt intake due to these reasons
Salt would make us hungrier:
Men who consumed more salt drank less water. It must be noted that the salt would result in the kidneys to hold more water and produce more urea. Instead of feeling thirsty, they would feel hungrier. It could lead to overeating and finally weight gain.
Salt causes stress on kidneys:
When our body receives excess sodium, then it has to work much harder to maintain safe levels in the blood. This would lead to strain on the kidneys. It is important to note that for our health to be good the kidneys must function properly.
Salt could cause poor heart health:
If we consume excess salt, then our heart has to pump harder for the sake of getting increased blood to flow throughout the body. To deal with the raised BP, arteries walls thicken and constriction of arteries could occur. This would put strain on the circulatory system.
Risk of getting osteoporosis:
Excess sodium or salt intake could lead to more risk of getting osteoporosis. The bones in us get weak and brittle. Fractures could occur.
