Many would be surprised to hear this piece of news!!
The researchers have now revealed that the presence of grey hairs and baldness might be an indicator of heart disease. It is a well-known fact that heart disease is the leading reason for the deaths in adults.
Otherwise known as coronary heart disease or CRD, heart disease takes place when there are poor oxygen and nutrients supplied to the organs. This could be due to the damage of the coronary arteries. The risk of getting heart disease could be due to various factors like lifestyle, stress, family history, high BP, high cholesterol, etc.
A study was conducted by the European Society of Cardiology and it has been found by the study that male pattern baldness, as well as greying of hairs, could increase the risk of heart diseases more than obesity in a person under 40.
It must not be forgotten that in the past Indian based researchers have found that male pattern baldness and premature greying of hairs are associated with a 5 times increase in the heart diseases in younger men and this could apply to women too.
The latest research work by the European Society of Cardiology involved as many as 545 adult men in the age group of 42 to 64 years. Based on the volume of grey hairs - pure black hair, pure white, and grey the researchers divided these 545 adult men into 3 categories.
It was finally found out in the study that those men (about 80%) presented with signs of heart conditions had high volumes of grey hairs.
Fact is going grey doesn’t mean that the person always has a heart-based issue or a medical condition but it shows that the person’s health is not good. Premature greying of hairs could be due to genetics, stress, smoking, vitamin B12 deficiency, thyroid disorders, etc.
