There are so many reasons for us to include Indian gooseberry or amla in our diet.
This super food is rich in vitamin C plus in other ingredients like calcium, phosphorus, iron, carotene, vitamin B etc. It would provide us with lots of health benefits like healthy digestion, good kidney health and liver health etc. In addition to these, our heart health would become better by consuming amla. Bitter fact is that though this super food is good for the health, not everybody would benefit by consuming amla. In some persons, intake of amla or Indian gooseberry could be harmful for health also
Persons who must avoid consuming amla are
Those who have hyperacidity issue:
The presence of vitamin C contributes to the acidic nature of amla. Severity of heart burns would be reduced by eating amla but those persons with hyperacidity issue must not eat amla as it could make the condition worse.
Those with blood related disorders:
Formation of blood clots would be prevented by intake of amla having anti-platelet properties. Intake of amla by normal healthy persons would be okay as it could reduce the risk of heart attacks etc. Those persons with blood related disorders must not eat amla as it would thin the blood and prevent normal blood clotting.
Those who have to undergo surgery:
There is risk of bleeding when a person consumes excess amla. Hence, those who are waiting for surgery must avoid amla totally. Continuous bedding could lead to tissue hypoxemia, severe acidosis etc.
Those who have low blood sugar levels:
Intake of amla would lower the blood sugar levels in a person and it is beneficial for those with diabetes condition. Those persons with low blood sugar levels must avoid eating amla as it would not be good and safe. So, please be careful.
Those who are pregnant and breastfeeding:
Pregnant women and breast feeding women would find it tough when they consume excess amla as it would lead to various issues like diarrhea, dehydration and upset stomach etc. Therefore, before eating amla these persons must consult their doctor.
Those with dry scalp and skin etc:
The dry scalp and dry skin issues of a person would become more or aggravated if they eat too much amla. These persons might get issues like hair fall, itching, dandruff etc. Dehydration would also take place due to the presence of some compounds in amla. Drinking lots of water after eating amla is a must.
