Dr. K.M. Cherian’s Frontier Lifeline Hospital and Indian Medical Association have jointly launched a heart failure clinic that aims to improve lifestyle of patient.
Health minister C. Vijayabaskar launched the clinic and also released a booklet on the facility. He also inaugurated a continuing medical education programme on heart failure.
Heart failure, K.M. Cherian, chairman of Frontier Lifeline Hospital, said is different from heart attack and cardiac arrest. It is a serious medical condition that develops slowly as the heart muscles weaken. Symptoms include shortness of breath, particularly whilele lying down, and swelling of feet, ankles and legs.
The clinic would serve as a centre of excellence for the clinical management of heart failure, he said.
