SEMINAR ON VEDAS AND SASTRAS IN BHARATIYA VIDYA BHAVAN.

Three day national Sanskrit seminar on ‘Vedas and Sastras’ was inaugurated by Justice B N Srikrishna, a former Judge, Supreme Court. During the course of his he said that ‘Dharma differentiates Human beings from Animal’. T S Krishnamurthy former Chief Election Commissioner also participated.

SCOUTS AND GUIDES MUST BE COMPULSORY: BARNALA

Surjit Singh Barnala, the Governor of Tamilnadu suggested that Scouts and Guides must be made compulsory as they help students develop leadership qualities and nurture discipline and Unity. The Governor was speaking on the occasion of presenting Rajyapurskar awards to more than 7000 Scouts and Guides from all over the state.

PAKISTANI PATIENT TREATED FOR PARKINSON IN CHENNAI.

Mohammed Arif a Parkinson patient for last six years has been successfully treated a Apollo Specialty Hospital using “Deep Brain Stimulation” [DBS]. Arif Mohammed hailing from Peshawar was diagnosed with Parkinsonianism around 2003, had developed severe side effects for the last one and half years.

JAPANESE ART AND CULTURE SHOW CASED.

‘Passage to the future: Art from a New Generation in Japan’ a Japanese art exhibition was on show at Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai. The Exhibition was organized by the consulate General of Japan at Chennai, ABK-AOTS Dosakai and Japan Foundation. Works of 11 artists from Japan have been exhibited.

DESALINATION PLANT AT NEMMELI

Foundation stone for establishing 100 Million Litres per day desalination plant at Nemmeli has been laid by the Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday. Announcing on the occasion Stalin said that the plant is scheduled to be operational by December, 2011.

THIRD NANO TECH INITIATIVE THROUGH A SCHOOL IN CHENNAI.

Third Nano Technologyintiative has been launched by a trilateral- India, Brazil, SouthAfrica initiative. Dr Baldev Raj, Director of Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic research and National Co-coordinator of India for the IBSA Nano Technology Initiative said that the third school on advanced materials would focus on advanced aspects of Nanomaterials with specific emphasis on sensor applications.
