The severe cyclonic storm Gaja over southwest Bay of Bengal had finally made a landfall on Tamil Nadu coast just after the midnight. The system has crossed the coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranniyam.

Cyclone Gaja even after crossing the land is still a severe Cyclone and is now right over Pudukottai a rare event indeed. Enitre town is getting cyclonic winds gusting to 100 km/hr. Nagai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Karaikkal.

The severe cyclonic storm Gaja crossed the Tamil Nadu coast between Nagapattinam and nearby Vedaranniyam early Friday with wind speed gusting up to 120 kmph.

The cyclone is presently located northeast direction 217 km away from Nagapattinam is drifting towards Nagapattinam at a speed of 17 kmph to 20 kmph.

Low shear on its path and with ideal SST, Severe Cyclone Gaja is not expected to Weaken and instead going to cross between Cuddalore and Vedaranayam as a strong Cyclone with winds clocking 100-120 km/hr.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the cyclone Gaja is set to cross the coast near Nagapattinam between 8.00 PM and 11.00 PM tonight (Thursday, 15th November).

The 2nd bands of clouds are now falling in North and North West Chennai. More bands to follow like this with lots of breaks in between.
